Blue light glasses are a category with an unusually wide gap between the good products and the bad ones, and the gap is entirely in the lens tint. Most of what is sold as "blue light blocking" is a barely-tinted clear lens that filters a token amount and does very little for sleep.

Why the wavelength number is the whole review
Melatonin release is governed by specialised retinal cells that are most sensitive to light at roughly 460–480nm. Light in that band, at sufficient intensity in the hours before bed, suppresses melatonin and delays circadian timing. That mechanism is well established — it is one of the better-evidenced findings in circadian biology.
What follows from it is narrower than the marketing around the category suggests. Blocking that band helps if your evening light exposure is actually the thing delaying your sleep. Filtering the band you are sensitive to is the intervention; a lens that filters 15% of it is not doing the job, and a clear lens is close to decorative.
